Striking Camp. So much for the planned early start of 7am. It had been raining throughout the night, heavy at times, and nobody was keen to get up. The first emerged at 8.15am and dragged the rest out of their beds. No time for standing still today. Breakfast of cereal and hard boiled eggs was shortly under way before the task of striking camp. The midges obviously knew it was our last day, so they were really annoying this morning, making progress slow at times. We also had toilet cleaning duty again today, so they Scouts volunteered to do that (it meant they got away from the midges for a few minutes) while the Leaders started to pack the gear away. Unfortunately, all the tents came down wet.
Packing equipment into the trialer. Everything was packed away in the trailer by 11am and we pushed it to the end of the track where the staff would tow it down to the road. Headed up to reception for the final time to settle up our account, which was surprisingly less than expected. The shop was then opened for us to buy some souvenirs. In the meantime, the trailer had been collected and the site inspected and no problems found. It was now midday, so had some sandwiches for lunch before the 3 Scouts and one Leader left for Northampton at 12.40pm and the other Leader headed off north of the border.
