![]() Inspection today was to be at 9am as we wanted to be off site as early as possible. This meant getting up at 7.30am to the first rain of the week. Breakfast was cereal and bacon sandwiches and then followed by a quick inspection before heading off for Edinburgh at 9.30am. Despite raining on the site, the weather cleared and was nice and sunny by the time we arrived. We parked in Morrison Street car park and walked up to Princes Street, across the gardens and up to the Castle. Had half an hour tour of the Castle before sitting down to eat our packed lunch, and then waited for the one-o'clock gun. We had just over an hour to wander around the Castle before walking down The Royal Mile and back into Princes Street. The Scouts then had an hour and a half to walk around the shops, unfortunately during which it rained very heavily, before meeting back for tea. This was a Harry Ramsdens in the Princes Mall. Walked back along Princes Street to the mini bus and were back on site for 7.45pm, where is was sunny once again, but also cold. There was free time for the rest of the evening, which gave the Scouts a chance to make (limited) progress on their bivouacs. One of the Leaders received a visit from some of his friends during the evening. Another early night for everyone. |
